I am making a sweater!!! The first part is fairly simple, but I am soaking up the simple moments because I know it will get harder in the future. The sweater pattern is called Hayward by Julie Hoover. Her designs are so pretty!
Downton Abbey premiered in the US on Sunday. Since I don't have TV :( I was still able to watch the show on Masterpiece Classic PBS. If anyone would like to watch the 5th season click here. It's free and legal! :) It was so awesome to watch the show again and have my knitting in my hand.
Right now I am still listening to Emma, but I also started The Goldfinch. I heard it was a really good book and the beginning is set in New York (where I live.) I can't wait to find out what happens in the end.
What are you knitting and reading?
that book is on my to read list, I await to hear what you think of it. I loved the premiere of Downton. Such a good story to watch listen and knit to while soaking up some period history. Lovely sweater beginnings!!
ReplyDeleteGoldfinch is a wonderful read, but I loved Donna Tartt's The Secret History even more.
ReplyDeleteI have yet to see one episode of Downton Abbey so I really need to make time to watch it.
I recorded Downton but still haven't watched it yet. I'm so looking forward to it. Yay for your sweater! Enjoy the whole process.
ReplyDeleteI am so far behind on Downton, now sure why I missed this show when it started, desperately trying to catch up on Netflix. Was Emma turned into a movie? I remember watch a miniseries called Emma at a friends house when I was in my early teens and have been wanting to re-watching but cannot seem to find it.
ReplyDeleteI believe Emma has been turned into a movie. I haven't seen it. Let me know if you like it! :)
DeleteHave fun knitting your sweater! I cannot wait to see the final project!
ReplyDeleteI checked that book out last year after another knitter recommended it, but time got away from me, and I had to return it before I got more than a few pages in...it is on my list, though! I'm clicking through to see if I can access Downton (for free?!) since we don't have cable or reception here in the foothills. So thankful for the Internet. :) Such an elegant sweater pattern! Hope you'll model it when you're finished... xo Lisa
ReplyDeleteYES! You can watch Downton Abbey for free on PBS. I don't have cable either and when I saw that I can watch it online I almost jumped for joy!
DeleteWe watch Downton on PBS as well.....it is good to be able to see it again! Your sweater look like a fun project!
ReplyDeleteSo glad you love The Goldfinch too. I also can't wait to find out what happens! I have downton recorded on my tv.. hoping to be able to watch it tonight!
ReplyDeleteGood luck with the sweater-- such an awesome knitting milestone!!
That book is on my to be read list and I can't wait to see your review of it. Love Downton and I don't have TV either. Thanks for the link! :)
ReplyDeleteThat yarn looks so pretty! Emma was made into a movie (Gwyneth Paltrow played Emma). It used to be my favorite movie. Knightley was the first Jane Austen hero I fell in love with! I watched the movie before reading the book :) Nice job trying something new, it's always intimidating at first, isn't it? But once you plow through it you feel more accomplished and capable! I've only knit a baby sized sweater as practice, but I've been wanting to make an adult sized one for a while! I'm excited to see how it'll turn out :)
ReplyDeleteYour yarn is beautiful! I Watch down Abbey back in the fall on an Internet site that is free as well. Now it's fun to watch it a second time and see everyone else's comments.
