Yarn Along.

Honestly the title of the post should be, Melissa is making a sweater and has no idea what she is doing! I decided that I have been knitting cowls and scarfs for a while and have not ventured out to do something big (I think I was to scared that I would mess up.) But now I am ready! I decided to make this sweater on the night Downton Abbey starts and finish the day it ends to find more details about that click here. Also the yarn I am using is from Cascade and it is my favorite brand. Even though I am a little bit nervous this might be the hardest project I have ever completed, I am glad that the pattern is easy and I am using my favorite yarn! That's all that matters right!?

Anyway right now I am listening to Emma by Jane Austen. It's another great book by Jane.

What are you reading or knitting? Also any helpful tips or encouragement would be greatly appreciated! :)

  1. you will be fine knitting a sweater, and I'm only an email away if you get stuck! Love your yarn, so pretty. On January first I'm casting on a new shawl for me for the wedding (if the future dress I buy matches).

  4. I love Cascade yarns too! You can do it! Sweaters are always daunting the first time because it is large and intimidating but they're much easier than you'd think.
The nice thing about the internet is that there are tons of people who can help if you get stuck or have problems reading the pattern. Good luck!

  7. That's a very high goal you have there! You might want to DVR the episode and start your knitting on the second viewing -- just a suggestion. I can never knit anything complicated while I'm really involved in a movie or program. But good luck on your sweater -- they are much more fun to knit than scarves!

  8. You will do great! I was so scared to do my first baby sweater several years ago so a friend and I knit one along together. Looking back it was a super hard pattern with a hood and stripes - but we got them both done and it was fun! I just knit my first adult sweater this year, which was totally intimidating but now I don't know really why, it went fine! I would love to see what pattern you are doing. I love the shade of Cascade you chose! My advice is that (as long as the pattern is well-reviewed) TRUST the pattern and just go with it even if things don't immediately make sense. That's only not true if there are errors in the pattern but with well-written patterns then its a mantra a repeat in my head sometimes. Yours will turn out beautiful! Can't wait to see!

  11. Oh I love the look of that sweater! I haven't done any adult sweaters, mainly just ones for my babes, but don't worry! You will do great! And I LOVE Emma. I am reading Pride and Prejudice to my kids right now - I wanted to read it again, and if they will sit and listen, why not!
