Redesigning a cork board.

In my bedroom, I have a cork board where I place my favorite things on it. The cork board was from Target and I knew it would be perfect in my room. Fast forward 2 months, and I became sick of the brown color! So I decided to paint the edges blue. I used the same paint that I used for the cover of my summer mini book. The paint is great I love Martha Stewart's paint and the color is beautiful!

To paint this cork board, I placed it on some old newspapers and poured the paint on a paper plate. I then used my foam paint brush to paint the top edges. I then let the top part dry and then painted the bottom edges. 

I love the pictures on my cork board and I love that the color makes the pictures stand out!

Bedroom Design: Part Two

On the right side of the bed I hung a garland which I made and I got the idea from Dear Lizzy. All 

of the paper & embellishments are from Dear Lizzy or Maggie Holmes! Also my budget for my room

was pretty small.  So I was glad that I was able to find stuff either at thrift stores, or reusing items 

that I already had, like scapbooking paper. 

The rocking chair was my great grandma's chair. I love that I have it room. It's great for knitting, 
or if one of my siblings want to come and sit in my room. Above the rocking chair is a ledge 
where I keep a variety of vintage stuff that I picked up or made. The ampersand was from 
Michaels, bulletin board from Target, mugs are from Anthropologie, pendent & pinwheels 
are from Martha Stewart. I love my room because it expresses who I am. I enjoy the color 
pink, vintage, & handmade items. 

I am thrilled that I was able to show what I love in my new bedroom. Happy 4th of July to all my 
American friends! 

Bedroom Design: Part One

I am so excited to share part one of my finished room! On my blog I have been sharing bits and pieces of my bedroom. I am thrilled to finally have it completed. My color scheme for the room is pink, vintage, and pops of blue & green. The colors of the wall are cream, which is great. I never had a cream colored bedroom, but I am enjoying it 

I found my bed on craigslist. It is a iron daybed with a bed underneath it. Perfect for me and when guests come over. The quilt is made by my aunt and I have had this quilt forever! The pillows are from Home Goods that I just bought yesterday! They were on the clearance rack & each of them were less than $20. On the blog, I wrote about the paper flowers that I made. I love them. They are beautiful and have not fallen from the ceiling yet! :)

Above the bed there are a few of my favorite books as a young girl, two box signs, a flamingo, and a old perfume jar. Around my room there is a built in ledge which is great so I am able to put things on it, instead of hanging stuff on a wall.

Bedroom Design: Paper Flowers

I have always loved making paper flowers! When I was younger I liked making small paper flowers to put in vases. I haven't made paper flowers in a while so I was thrilled to find this tutorial. 

Each flower took me about 30 minutes to complete. While I made them I listed to Elise Joy's Podcast  she gave me the idea to hang paper flowers in your room. Also I didn't complete them all at once, I took my time. They were definitely worth the time and effort! The hardest part for me was hanging them on the ceiling! Thankfully the DIY tutorial was very simple and showed great step by step pictures.

Bedroom Design: Melisssa's Desk Sign

In our new house, I have a desk where I can create and do my Project Life album on. I love that I have a designated spot to create things. One of the things that was missing on the desk was a sign. So why not create one?! 

For the background, I used my old chalk board which I loved, but wanted to use it in another way. The paper & the garland that I used was from Dear Lizzy's Neopolotian Collection. I also used the ruffled paper that I DIY. The blue dot was from Oh Joy's line. Lastly the white tag was from Michaels

To create this sign I just pasted the paper in various ways to make it look good. I think it turned out great & looks great on my desk!

Bedroom Design: Table Mat

This is one of the easiest DIY you could ever do! In my room, (can I just say how happy I am to have my own room) there is an old wooden nightstand that needed some color. My mom recommended me to decorate it with some decorative paper. Michaels was having a sale so I bought Maggie Holmes 8.5x11 inches sheets of paper. The pack came with a variety a Maggie Holmes' paper. I placed 4 sheets of paper on the top of the nightstand and rearranged them to fit the table properly. 

The nightstand is a great place for my Mastering the Art of French Cooking cookbook, my 25 cent camera that I found at a yard sale, & a cute stamp saying. 

   This is a super easy and quick project that you can make without using glue or tape!
